This year, Sol Calero (born 1982 in Caracas), Iman Issa (born 1979 in Cairo), Jumana Manna (born 1987 in Princeton) and Agnieszka Polska (born in 1985 in Lublin) have been nominated for the Preis der Nationalgalerie 2017 by an international jury. The museum prize is awarded every two years and pays tribute to artists under 40 who live and work in Germany. All four artistic positions, which are presented in a joint exhibition at Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin, are not just engaged in a purely artistic discourse. Producing art spanning several media at once, they rather use their work to reflect social processes.

We are proud to announce the new solo show of Hubert Czerepok in Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, titled The Beguining.
The exhibition consists of three video installations. The title of the exhibition was taken from a video work — a documentary film showing the DNA research of the first Piasts and the hypothesis about their foreign origin, which was created in the 19th century. In the works presented at the exhibition, fiction is mixed with science, many hypotheses and theories broaden our view of the complex and ambiguous reality and cause the question of the origin to remain open.

In collaboration with Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C., Les Abattoirs brings together nine artists who use animation as their tool to defy our conceptions of reality. This exhibition shows works from Ed Atkins, Antoine Catala, Ian Cheng, Kate Cooper, Josh Kline, Helen Marten, Jon Rafman, Avery Singer and Agnieszka Polska - all of whom explore our information-loaded era and our place within it. The exhibition raises many questions such as the impact that all these virtual worlds have on our real physical experience.

We are thrilled to announce Marlena Kudlicka's solo exhibition sugar in the ashes. Official Capacity. It is an attempt to redefine the concept of sculpture in light of questions relating to the physical and mental process of its creation and its relation to space in and of itself. The new series of sculptures and sculptural collages created by Marlena Kudlicka for La BF15 takes the viewer back to the avant-garde tradition of constructivism and the subsequent practice of the Polish avant-garde. Nevertheless, in her way of understanding the particularity of sculpture and its function in space, the artist draws more deeply from the history and tradition of this medium.
With the kind support of the Lafayette Foundation.

Jasmina Cibic’s extensive multi-media installation represents the culmination of her ambitious project for European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017. The exhibition includes her most recent film, Nada Act II, alongside other works. Cibic shot Nada: Act II in Arne Jacobsen’s Aarhus City Hall, within which she places a recreation of the performance of Bela Bartok’s pantomime ballet The Miraculous Mandarin at the 1958 Brussels EXPO. It was this work that the Yugoslav Republic chose to represent its new direction on Nations Day almost sixty years ago. Here is it repurposed, mis-imagined and overwritten in collaboration with the choreographer Lea Anderson.
