The Gallery ŻAK | BRANICKA was founded in 2008 by Monika Branicka, a critic and art historian, and Asia Żak Persons, an artist, and is located on Lindenstr. 35 in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. ŻAK | BRANICKA strives towards eliminating the gap between eastern and western Europe by integrating eastern European (primarily Polish) artist into the West and united the two fronts. Based in Germany’s capital Berlin, the gallery also promotes the unique development of eastern contemporary art as well as provides a platform for the world’s eastward shifting focus. With a program strongly focused on the heritage of avant-garde, constructivism, performance and video art ŻAK | BRANICKA holds a coherent selection of artist. They partite into three age groups the first one with artist working from 60s and 70s like Ryszard Wasko and Józef Robakowski, the middle age generation including Dominik Lejman (the winner of the Berlin Art Prize 2018), Katarzyna Kozyra (Venice Biennale 1999- Honorable Mention) and Marlena Kudlicka. The youngest generation of emerging artist including Agnieszka Polska (winner of Preis der Nationalgalerie 2017) and Tomek Baran recall history and employ varying art forms techniques and practices.

ŻAK | BRANICKA participates in various Art Fairs including ARCO Madrid, Artissima Torino and Gallery Weekend Berlin. In addition, it regularly publishes ŻAK|BRANICKA Newspapers and catalogues devoted to represented artists.
